The Designer
Heart’s Cry Statement
Let me create a blueprint for new ministry development.
Highlights
Who God Made You to Be
Designers like to take chaos and mold it like clay to construct highly logical and applicable systems and structures. They focus on one task at a time and will invest long hours learning all they can about the ideas, concepts, and philosophies that impact their current project. Then, they will seek to provide a framework to make these abstractions usable in a concrete fashion. Designers are quiet, introspective people. They are highly intelligent. They tend to view the world as “projects” to be accomplished. They want to add order and structure to their world, and feel satisfied when that goal is achieved project by project. Designers tend to believe their work is accomplished once a plan has been created. Implementation and application are the responsibilities of others. Designers tend to be poor relationship managers. They are so focused on the task at hand and devising structure and system designs, that they have little energy left for the “hard work” of maintaining relationships. Their relational pool is small. They generally work alone and behind the scenes. Although they can work in small teams comprised of people whom they respect, they quickly feel “drained” by too much relational contact.
What You Can Contribute To the Ministry
The Designer personality is rare and may be absent in many ministries. However, they can benefit a ministry if called upon to develop a plan on paper in the early phases of new ministry development. This blueprint will help keep all personalities related to the project on task and unified. Designers will also be able to observe and address any poor logic or issues associated with the project that have not been thoroughly addressed by the ministry leaders.
How Leadership Can Support You
If possible, it may be beneficial to pair up the Designer with a Planner personality in order to help facilitate an understanding of the philosophy that under girds the new ministry venture. The Designer will be able to take the strategic steps envisioned by the Planner and articulate those steps on paper in a logical and concise manner.
