An individual's leadership style is related to his/her personality. We each possess a leadership style...or, syle of influence...that defines how we best fit within a leadership team. God did not call His people to be spiritual Lone Rangers. He called us to be a "body"...more specifically, the Body of Christ. The Bible is very clear that God positions people within the Body exactly as He wants them to be. The Bible is also clear that we who make up the Body of Christ comprise "many members"...we are not all hands or feet. In today’s terms, we serve as part of a team.
The LEADERSHIP STYLE assessment plots an individual on a continuum consisting of six team building roles unique to ministry leadership. The left side of the continuum consists of highly task-oriented, entrepreneurial leaders. The right side of the continuum consists of highly relational and non-task oriented leaders. A healthy "Three-Cord-Team" (Ecclesiastes 4:12) consists of at least three complimentary team members:
- A Team Administrator (Ensures the details are properly addressed)
- A Team Leader (Leads and motivates the team to accomplish the mission)
- A Shepherding Leader (Pastors/Encourages the team as they accomplish the mission)

The LEADERSHIP STLE assessment also supports intentional succession planning. For example, a new ministry start-up should be lead by an initial team consisting of...
- A Pioneering Leader (Leads the team in developing new ministries)
- A Strategic Planner (Designs the plan for ministry development)
- A Shepherding Leader (Pastors/Encourages the team as they accomplish the mission)
Once the ministry program or new church is well established, the Pioneering Leader should transfer his/her leadership responsibilities to a Team Leader, who will be more effective at managing the ministry long-term. The Strategic Planner's role as systems designer will transfer to an Administrative Leader who excels at managing the many details and tasks associated with the established ministry program or organization. Please refer to the chart below for leadership style categories.
